Chancellors of Germany
Overview of the German chancellors in modern history

The status of the German chancellor as the head of government was renewed after the formation of the Federal Republic of Germany (unified American, British and French occupation zone).
The first chancellor of the modern German history was Konrad Adenauer. Helmut Kohl's reign is the very longest one, Angela Merkel is also one of the most successful chancellors judging by the length of her service.

This timeline doesn't show just the each period of governance of the German chancellors, also the number of reigns led by them. Chancellors political party affiliation is presented by color.
